Jump-Rope | Facade Brick Paneling, Guache on Paper
Jax | Carpeting, Guache on Paper
Tricycle | Facade Wood Paneling, Guache on paper

A single work depicting childhood spaces and games. These works focus on the influence of nostalgia to create romantic notions of childhood as conflict free and where innocence is exalted as a virtuous ideal, never attainable. The disconnect between the romantic notions of childhood and the realities of childhood are challenged through each of the paintings which depict typical toys used by children juxtaposed against generic and inexpensive homebuilding materials. The raw edges of the frames constructed with 2×4’s attempt to highlight the facades of the materials used to frame each painting.
